September 2025-AHN is leading the way in sustainable pharmacy innovation

Please join us in celebrating Allegheny Health Network (AHN) as our Partner of the Month for September! AHN holds a special place in Parcel Health’s story — as the first health system in the United States to pilot Tully Tube, the world’s first and only paper prescription pill bottle.

This past spring, AHN began filling prescriptions in our stock “Going Green” Tully Tubes at AHN Allegheny Valley Hospital, marking a groundbreaking step toward reducing single-use plastics in pharmacy operations. In just a few short months, AHN’s single pilot location has already kept 364 pounds of plastic out of landfills — that’s about the same weight as a grand piano or an entire classroom full of plastic water bottles! Every prescription filled in a paper-based Tully Tube instead of a plastic bottle helps protect our planet and shows how small changes can make a big difference.

Now, AHN is taking the next step. The health system is expanding its eco-friendly initiative to seven pharmacy locations, featuring custom-designed Tully Tubes in three sizes, proudly showcasing AHN’s signature green and blue branding. These beautiful new designs symbolize a shared belief that packaging can be both functional and inspiring, reflecting AHN’s mission to promote health for people and the planet alike.
