Introducing Doorstep: Keeping Pharmacies and Patients Connected
The bottom of every Tully Tube has a QR code on it. Until now, that code opened a page with recycling instructions.
This summer, we had an idea: what if it could do more?
We had already seen evidence that it could. About a quarter of our website traffic was already coming to the page patients reach by scanning the code on the bottom of the tube. And in a pilot with Wellstar, prescription volumes rose 6.5% after the switch to the Tully Tube, and 80% of patients reported more positive feelings about the pharmacy.
What if we could use that interest to help pharmacies drive patient adherence and retention?
So we built Doorstep.
Doorstep is a digital layer that uses the pill bottle to drive patient retention and medication adherence. A patient scans the QR code on the bottom of the Tully Tube to set text medication reminders, link out to the pharmacy's own refill portal, and view calls to action from that pharmacy. No app and no account are required.
Doorstep further strengthens the connection between the patient and the pharmacy by giving the pharmacy a new way to share information that helps patients adhere to instructions, stay informed on system-wide updates, and keep coming back.
How Patients Use Doorstep
Set a medication reminder
The patient chooses dose times and gets a text reminder. Reply STOP to cancel. No data is stored.
Find your pharmacy
The patient can find a pharmacy that dispenses in the Tully Tube and link out to that pharmacy's own refill portal to refill.
Flip your lid
Doorstep shows the patient how to reverse the cap on the Tully Tube, from child-resistant to easy-open.
Claim your tube
The patient claims the Tully Tube in their hand. Claiming it plants a flower for that tube on the Tully garden map, next to the flowers from other patients' tubes. A butterfly lands for each task the patient finishes on Doorstep.
Picture the number
Eight billion plastic prescription vials pollute US landfills every year. The plastic pill bottles thrown away each year weigh more than 450 Boeing 747s. The Tully Tube uses up to 71% less plastic per container than a standard vial.
Tell us how it feels
The patient rates the Tully Tube from 1 to 5. After the rating, a short survey opens with a few more simple questions and room for open-ended feedback. It is anonymous. Parcel Health and the pharmacy read it, and it shapes the next version of the Tully Tube.
Doorstep is live here. If your prescription came in the Tully Tube, scan the bottom of the tube to check it out. If your pharmacy does not dispense in the Tully Tube yet, you can use Doorstep to request that we reach out to your pharmacy.
