Meet the Phill Box

More than 8 billion orange prescription pill bottles are disposed of every year in the United States. Each one takes centuries to degrade into microplastics.

The Phill Box biodegrades in less than 60 days in a home or commercial compost pile.

The Phill Box is a 100% recyclable and biodegradable prescription packaging alternative.

Your questions about the Phill Box, answered

Is my medication safe in the Phill Box?

The FDA generally considers any solid dosage forms, like tablets or capsules, to have a low likelihood of interacting with containers in a way that causes unacceptable changes in the quality of the medication. This is why there are so many containers on the market for patients to purchase and carry around their medications.

How long can medication be kept in it?

Most solid oral dosage forms will last for up to one year.

How can I responsibly dispose of the Phill Box?

Any curbside recycling program or commercial composting facility can take them. You can also compost it in your backyard—try it out!

Is the Phill Box certified child-resistant?

Not yet. The Phill Box is in the process of receiving third-party certification of child resistance. Pharmacies routinely use non-child-resistant packaging, like blister packs and strip pouches, so adults should use the same judgment with the Phill Box as they would would those items.

What customers are saying about Phill Box

"Great product, better than the plastic bottles that most likely don’t get recycled. I would like to add that I have received a new prescription that is taken twice daily and so I am opening the box twice a day and it is still extremely durable!"

Sara S. Patient Testimonial

"I love that this product is recyclable and compostable. Great alternative to the current plastic bottles. I would definitely pay for this over a plastic bottle."
